Bongoland II - Where is Juma?

This weekend we conducted screen tests for JUMA. The process went well and we were very impressed by the brave souls who dared to take on the challenge. We also want to thank those who made sacrifices to be at the event and forgo the enjoyment of a rare warm day in Minneapolis. Among the candidates we looked at, we know for sure that we finally have our "JUMA"...stay tuned!

In the end we noticed that in the process we were once again exposed to the untapped talent pool of actors from East Africa who go unnoticed by the world cinema. An incredible opportunity for us to develop and introduce such actors to a wider underserved audience. Limited exposure of such talents is a direct result of limited venues from which one can expose their talents. Our mission will continue to provide such rare avenues.

Please be assured that your continued support will enable us to cater to such talented actors as well as create movies which address issues which you care about. If not we are at the mercy of big Hollywood moguls who continue to define the "African" experiences through such movies as "Blood Diamonds, The Last King of Scotland or the Constant Gardner" etc as if this is what we are all about...

It is true...Arts imitates Life but if we leave it to others to define our art, our life will certainly be mis-represented artistically...

Otherwise, the countdown to Dar continues...
